I began teaching at Trevecca in 1997. My primary instrument is Trumpet and I have conducted instrumental groups most of my career at both the Secondary and Collegiate level. I am married to Tina Peterson Diehl, an SNU grad and have two daughters, Joy and Gloria.

Epilepsy, the hippocampus, and the cortex. Our lab is currently pursuing research projects related to the understanding, prevention, and treatment of epilepsy. These include testing whether stem cell derived, GABAergic neurons can functionally integrate into hippocampal circuits and provide seizure-preventing inhibition. This and related stem cell projects are being pursued in collaboration with Profs. Janice Naegele and Laura Grabel.
My research is in the area of topology and geometry. I am interested in the study of volume in rank one symmetric spaces of noncompact type. I grew up in Blankenese. A suburb of Hamburg, Germany. In Munich I studied Deutsch als Fremdsprache. During my graduate studies I taught German to Turkish immigrants in Munich. Before coming to Wesleyan in 2008, I held teaching positions at Plymouth State College in Plymouth, .
